Welcome to our store, Oasis Family Bookstore, where
we make homeschooling easy(-er)!
If you are ready to homeschool and would like to check out our
complete curriculums, please visit our store at www.shop.oasisfamilybookstore.com
now.
If you are new to homeschooling, please read How to Begin Homeschooling,
and find out how to set you, your home, and your child(ren) up
for homeschooling. It is easier than you may think, and a
little bit of knowledge ahead of time is well worth it.
You will find that having the right information, and then
the right materials from the beginning is half the battle. The
other half is sticking with your choice to homeschool once you
begin, even when the going gets tough, as it does for all of
us. Get your family involved with other homeschool groups
early, and meet with them or chat with them early and often.
It is much easier to bounce problems off of more experienced
homeschoolers before your problems get bigger.
The decision to homeschool is a big one. It is well worth
it, as successful homeschoolers will tell you. It is almost
like deciding to get married, or having a child. Homeschooling
makes it possible to get to know your family members in
ways you could never have imagined. It also makes it
possible to raise your child(ren) in the way you dream of, with all
the advantages a caring family brings into a child's life.
Good luck, and enjoy!

Oasis Family
Bookstore is a family-owned
business started by the Balogh
family: Mona (mom),
Endre (dad), Csilla (age
16), Antal (age 11), Katalin
(age 8), and Eva (age 5). We have
homeschooled our children from the beginning. They have
never been schooled in the traditional sense. By
providing our own children with the most user-friendly
materials available, they progressively have learned to teach
themselves. They are all avid readers and enjoy
learning throughout the day.
Csilla, our oldest, is an
accomplished seamstress who sews her own clothes and has an
active business sewing for others, in addition to her schedule
of reading, writing, math, science and history. She also
enjoys spending lots of time with friends, and grudgingly
helps her younger siblings with their schoolwork. She
wants to be a costume designer when she grows up.
Antal, our very active boy,
is happily (and by his request) taking lessons in art,
fencing, horse vaulting (gymnastics on horseback: check
out Valley View Vaulters at www.valleyviewvaulters.com),
jiu-jitsu, piano, violin and French horn, in addition to
reading just about any book put in front of him. He'll
be the first to admit he's not
thrilled with homework, but does well with his
lessons, nonetheless. He wants to be a Navy Seal when he
grows up.
Katalin loves her
workbooks, and uses all of her colorful markers to complete
her reading, writing and math lessons. She also plays
piano, does horse vaulting (she's the National Tiny Tots
champion for 2003) and can be bribed to clean up anyone's mess
with a good piece of chocolate. She aspires to be a
doctor when she grows up.
Eva is our youngest
homeschooler, and definitely the most determined, and she
insists that math, reading and writing are her best
subjects. When she's not doing her homework, she can be
found in the kitchen rummaging through the refrigerator
and cabinets for tasty treats.
Endre is a concert violinist
by trade and has an active concert schedule which he
squeezes into his busy day driving the children from
place to place.
Mona is the manager of
Oasis Family Bookstore who works
occasionally as an Emergency Physician.
Our whole
family brings to you our experience as
homeschoolers, and we hope to save you from the mistakes
that most new homeschoolers make (we made our share of
mistakes ourselves when we started). Our bookstore will
help you to begin your homeschooling TODAY, and to enjoy this
wonderful family experience. We tell you just what you need to
know to get started, then offer you the best materials
available to homeschoolers in convenient
grade-specific curriculums.
